Port Louis, 28 May 2024 AXIAN Telecom,one of the leading pan-African telecom groups, announces the appointment of Kamal Okba as Chief Executive Officer of Free in Senegal, effective July 1st, 2024. He is replacing Mamadou Mbengue who is leaving the Group to pursue new opportunities. Kamal Okba is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Honora Tanzania Public Limited Company (“Tigo Tanzania”). He will be replaced on an interim basis by Jerome Albou, Chief Technology and Information Officer of AXIAN Telecom, who will retain his current responsibilities. With more than twenty-five years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Kamal has held extensive leadership roles, having served as Chief Executive Officer of various telecom operators for the past 15 years. As CEO of Tigo Tanzania, he has successfully delivered double digit revenue growth and has added tremendous value to the Tanzanian market with a focus on ensuring a better experience for the customers. Kamal holds an Engineering Diploma in IT from Ecole Nationale des Mines of Rabat (Morocco) and a MBA from ENPC School of International Management of Paris (France).
